Alan has built and led the marketing function in organisations ranging from small IPO’s to multi-billion-dollar global technology brands. 

His expertise lies in his ability to connect marketing to the strategic objectives of a business, whether this is growth through existing products and markets, growth through new products or markets, or complex transformations like merger and acquisition, or re-branding and re-positioning.

In the process Alan has built and coached teams on a national and international level and helped individuals build their own significant careers in marketing. Brands Alan has worked with include IBM, Sun Microsystems, Manhattan Associates, Cogeco Peer 1, and the NHS.

Providing interim marketing and commercial leadership. Developed marketing and sales strategy and supporting implementation including deployment of new CRM system. Assisting with growth forecast for investors for the securing of new funding.

Technology reseller

Provided interim marketing leadership to help business during transition from one private investor to new investor owners.

NHS Trust

Working with occupational health team to create a marketing and selling strategy to take occupational health services to market and generate income that makes them budget neutral within three years.

Global Hosting Business

Vice President of Marketing. Appointed to lead global marketing transformation including restructuring of team, budgets, and strategy. Led global research project into medium term profitability of customer base and future segmentation.

Supply Chain Software Business

International Marketing Director. Ran International marketing as part of international leadership team. Led the creation of the Asia Pacific marketing operation. Selected and deployed marketing automation system on behalf of global marketing team and led changes to global marketing operations and processes.

UK Small Cap Managed Service Business

Group Marketing Director. Joined small UK managed services business having just launched on AIM market. Hired as first marketer in business responsible for building a marketing strategy and function to support a future sale of the business. Built strategy and team. Profit grew ten-fold in four years, and revenue doubled. Business successfully sold after four years.
